Sebastian Vettel had to settle for second place at the Austrian GP on the Red Bull Ring to Spielberg, the pilot of the Team Ferrari having finished in the wheels of Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes).
The Championship leader came back on Valtteri Bottas in the final laps and finally finished behind the wheels of the Mercedes.
“How would you feel if you missed victory by half a second? It was very tight. I figured he was in trouble, but I attacked anyway, explains Sebastian Vettel. I was much more comfortable in the second part of the race because I struggled a little in the first part. The car reacted very well when we put the super soft tires on. »
“I had a very good pace and I gradually closed the gap, adds Sebastian Vettel. Pérez (Force India) slowed me down a bit when he had to respect the blue flags, but I missed a lap because Valtteri was in difficulty at the top of the hill. I would have liked to win, but it's still a good result. »
Sebastian Vettel leaves the Austrian GP with a 20-point lead over Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) who finished 4th after receiving a grid penalty.
