Vettel: F1 will require new driving style

Sebastian Vettel will he remain at the top of the F1 next year ? Many personalities in the paddock already expect to see the four-time world champion remain at the forefront, such was the German's advantage at the end of the year. However, drivers will have to take new steps with the 6l V1.6 turbo hybrid engines and the new regulations which will limit fuel consumption even further. “We all know there will be significant changes and the most important one for me is the engine,” declares the resident of the stable Milton Keynes on the official website of the discipline. “The rest will be unchanged, but the engine part will be a challenge for the drivers. Imagine that we will only have 100kg of gasoline available for a race. This could require completely different techniques that would allow you to be as fast as usual while conserving fuel. We must adapt to this new situation and find the best way to take the checkered flag as quickly as possible. »

The four-time world champion also made it clear that he did not take to heart the criticisms against him who claim that he will only prove his true value when he has to face a teammate of his caliber. The Red Bull driver recalls that he has also gone through delicate moments in his career. “We have nothing to prove, we have done enough. We had four fantastic years and where were everyone else during that time? Nothing happens by chance. We obviously need the right package and we had one that was very competitive, but I also remember we had a good one in 2009 and we finished in second place in the Championship. Thinking back to last year, the Championship was not played when I found myself at the back of the grid in Abu Dhabi and where I had to fight to get back to the front. We then experienced a real nightmare in Brazil. The car was damaged and I was last at the end of the first lap and managed to come back. We had our share of bad luck many times and it was up to others to seize those opportunities. I am convinced that we create our own luck. There will always be people who doubt, but that's their problem. »
