Vettel: The RB8 will be less dominant

Red Bull Racing outrageously dominated the 2011 season, winning 12 times in 19 Grands Prix. With 11 successes to his credit last year, Sebastian Vettel will have a hard time repeating such a performance. For the German, the domination of the Austrian team will be much less with the new regulations prohibiting blown exhausts. It is based in particular on the resemblance between the different single-seaters on the grid for the 2012 season (with their duck-bill noses).

“We will always remember the 2011 season and think how special it was.”, recognizes the German who will take the wheel of the RB8 in Jerez this Thursday. “But to be honest, we don’t start the year expecting to have a similar season, we would be wrong to do so. Looking at single-seaters, we see that there is not much room for designers to find something extra. Two important developments have been taken away from us in the last two years: double diffusers and blower exhausts. We obviously hope that our car will be better than the others but it won't be easy. The cars will be quite similar and the gaps will get closer. It would be a surprise if that wasn't the case. »
