Vettel feels competitive

Sebastian Vettel knows that his Red Bull has improved a lot at Silverstone and that it can still be just as competitive on the Nürburgring, in front of its home crowd.

Vettel feels competitive

Sebastian, how did you manage your three weeks of break?
The preparation was mainly done at home. It's very nice. On the one hand, I don't do tests, and what I like is driving. But on the other hand, it's good to come back and be able to train more intensely than when I'm busy all the time, all the time on the road. It?s hard to follow a program. It?s nice to be able to use some free time. And then I turned 22 last week.

Did you celebrate it with a big party?
No, not big. I don't know if you should do it when you reach 22. It was really peaceful. We had a little barbecue with the family, otherwise nothing special.

What do you think of your car for this Grand Prix? Has it evolved?
A few small tweaks but nothing major. We took a big step forward at Silverstone. It worked perfectly well, so we will have a competitive car here too. The Nürburgring is known for its conditions. Even if you have high hopes, you never know what will happen. There may be a few showers this weekend. But we have a competitive car both in the dry and in the rain. It will be really exciting.

This Nürburgring Grand Prix, is this not a disadvantage for you? We saw Jenson Button not put in a great performance at Silverstone?
I don't see riding at home as a disadvantage. It?s always great to come here. It?s nice to see people coming to encourage us. But the most important thing is the race, so you have to forget about all the people around and concentrate on what is essential. You can get ten points at Silverstone or Australia. There are no more points to be won here. Of course, it would be great to win the National Grand Prix. But it's a long road with Sunday's race at the end. But first, there are Friday practice sessions, to prepare for qualifying.
