Vettel turned to racing, Ricciardo returns to business

Even before the start of free practice this Friday in Austin, Texas, Sebastian Vettel had a sword of Damocles above his head. The possible change of engine, and the use of a completely new sixth Power Unit which would automatically inflict a penalty and force him to start from the pit lane. The FIA finally confirmed this change before the second session.

“It was a very different practice today. We were focused on preparing for Sunday, admits the four-time world champion. We had a problem with the gearbox this morning, so we lost a little time, but overall it was pretty good. It's not easy, knowing that you can't ride and give your all in qualifying tomorrow, but we knew that from the start of this weekend, so we have to concentrate on the race and we hope that we can perform a nice return starting from the stands. » Sebastian Vettel took last place in the second session early in the evening. FOR his teammate Daniel Ricciardo, the second session allowed us to see the Australian back on track, having been slowed down earlier in the day by a problem with his hybrid system. “We didn't drive much this morning, but in FP2 we finished in the top 5 and our long runs looked good. It’s a pretty satisfying end to the day. » indicated the Australian, who is aiming for the podium on Sunday.
