“The discussions were mainly fueled by the different interpretations of the regulations of the different teams”, explains Charlie Whiting. ?Last year, the regulations concerning this area were not complete enough. Today, this point of the regulation takes up an entire page. This time, it prohibits any aerodynamic benefit from exhaust gases. However, although the regulations are very clear, we have no precise way of knowing what aerodynamic influence each system has depending on the team. But as long as all teams comply with our rules, we are happy. Especially since these requests were difficult to introduce given that certain engines used these characteristics for legitimate purposes. »
