Williams prepare for his future. While the 2023 season has just started, the English team has already planned for the coming years. Indeed, 2026 will mark the entry into force of the new engine regulations as well as the arrival of new brands, and therefore engine manufacturers, such as Audi which will be associated with Sauber or even Ford with Red Bull.

Partner with Mercedes since the start of the hybrid era in 2014, Williams does not yet know if the adventure between the two parties will continue beyond the 2025 season. On the other hand, the English already know that they will make a decision this year in order to to prepare as best as possible for this new era.

« We need to make sure we analyze the market well, underlines James Vowles, Williams' main team. We have to make decisions on this soon but also see where we are regarding relations (...) The decision must be made this year no matter what. I think it will be rare to see teams change engine suppliers later than this year. » As you will have understood, the Grove team is already preparing the ground for its next partner. It remains to be seen whether the adventure with Mercedes will be extended or whether Williams will try a new bet to perhaps regain the glory of the past...

Williams would have to achieve some good performances this year in order to be able to attract a new engine manufacturer! But isn't Williams' future to become Mercedes' B team?
