Williams unveils its FW37

La Williams FW37 is therefore the first car 2015 to have been unveiled. The Grove team has released the first image of the car which will be driven again this season by the Finn Valtteri Bottas and the Brazilian Felipe Massa.

“The desire to beat Ferrari in the Manufacturers' Championship in 2014 forced the team to push our development until the end of the autumn, but the size of the team is now such that we were able to support this development while working on the FW37. The first step in designing the FW37 came before the FW36 hit the track. » Explain Pat Symonds, Technical Director.

The descendant of the FW36, one of the best opponents to Mercedes W05 Hybrid in 2014, is logically inspired by its big sister. “For the FW37, we took a close look at the FW36 and its performance, continues Symonds. We looked at what worked well and identified and then resolved areas that needed improvement. While the aerodynamics of the car have been impressive, there is always room for improvement, especially since we have the new 2015 regulations regarding the nose. The change in regulations was a bit of a headache. The new snout had much more impact than we had initially anticipated and the effect on aerodynamics was profound. »

The Main Team Frank Williams hopes to see more of its cars on the podium in 2015. “After a very good first year with Mercedes, we are looking to develop this relationship further. I think this year will be just as exciting as last and I can’t wait to see the car on the grid for the first race. »
