Williams performing even better at the Canadian GP?

Tied on points with McLaren F1 Team, Williams will arrive with confidence at the Canadian Grand Prix after securing a seventh place with Felipe Massa in Monaco. Pirelli having also chosen soft and super soft tyres, the British team will use the data collected on the Rock even if the parameters will change depending on the conditions. “Canada is a special circuit with its long straights and slow corners”, comments Rob Smedley, Williams' vehicle performance director. “We could have problems warming up the tires if it's cool and we also risk accelerated degradation if it's hot. We will be very focused on the tires this weekend. The curbs are also important in Montreal because you have to be able to ride them in both chicanes to achieve a good lap. OUR car is aerodynamically efficient, which is essential for straight lines. »

Felipe Massa will be looking to sign a new top after securing three 7th places this season. The Brazilian was effective on the Gilles Villeneuve circuit since he took eighth position last year with Ferrari. “We plan to be more competitive in Canada and I hope we will perform well there. The top speed of the car is good and that will be our strong point. Montreal has offered some great races in the past and the weather will have a big impact on the event. We need to be prepared for rain and not necessarily expect it to be hot. The city is very relaxing and it is a pleasure to come back every season. »

Valtteri Bottas will look to resume its good streak which ended at the Monaco Grand Prix with a retirement. The Finn has so far managed to get into the points in every race since the start of the season. “I have excellent memories of Canada last year since I achieved my best result in qualifying with a third place on the grid (14th at the finish). The track is completely different compared to Monaco and I think it will highlight the strong points of the car which is efficient in a straight line. It’s a special track not only because it’s technically a street circuit but also because it has big braking zones and some fast corners. »
