Williams steps back

After filing a protest against the aerodynamic package of Ferrari and Red Bull, the Williams team decided to put a premature end to this matter shortly before midnight.

Several hours of discussions with the stewards of the Australian Grand Prix ended with the withdrawal of the protest which had been filed after qualifying.

At the beginning of the weekend, Ferrari, Red Bull et Renault avaient déjà déposé une réclamation à l?encontre de Brawn, Toyota et Williams concerning single-seater diffusers. The commissioners ruled in favor of the defense but the case will be retried on appeal on April 14, between the second and third Grand Prix of the season.

Williams' decision to withdraw this protest was very positively received by officials, teams and journalists stranded at the circuit until late at night.
