Wolff: controversy must exist at Mercedes

Mercedes F1 still risks winning the Drivers' and Manufacturers' titles for the third year in a row. If the Team Ferrari shows performance with the SF16-H, the W07 Hybrid seems untouchable on a regular basis.

In order to maintain appeal in the Grands Prix, Toto wolff will let its pilots compete without limits after having supervised Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg following the incident at the 2014 Belgian Grand Prix where the German came into contact with his teammate.

“It was unacceptable to me that the drivers came into contact and risked losing the Championship. We have won two titles since that and I understand that the controversy is an important story for the team and F1. We will let her come”, commented the executive director of Mercedes Motorsport in The Guardian.

“It'll get hot again and we'll have some interesting moments on the track, but I'm not going to try to contain it this time. We accept that they are rivals and that they fight for the Drivers' title, it is an essential objective for them", added the Austrian who remembers the duel between Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost who participated in the legend of McLaren. To do this, Nico Rosberg will have to be at the level of his teammate.
