Zak Brown: McLaren could drop to 6th place

La F1 is preparing to begin its 2020 season on July 5 at the Austrian GP after more than three months of break. The winter tests in Barcelona last February, however, were able to offer a first glimpse of the forces involved, in particular with a Mercedes W11 with very promising Two-Axis Steering or a Racing Point RP20 seeming to be a carbon copy of last year's Silver Arrow.

These developments could modify last year's hierarchy, where McLaren notably finished in 4th place ahead of Renault.

“I expect that we will have a more difficult year, warned Zak Brown, the executive director of McLaren Racing, on Sky Sports. Racing Point are clearly very fast with what appears to be last year's Mercedes and you'd think they're going to perform well considering it was this car that won the title last season. I think they are the ones who have progressed the most. »

“Renault and Alfa (Romeo) also showed good speeds. Alpha Tauri set very promising times at the end of testing and Williams showed much more potential than last year. So I'm expecting a difficult season. We could keep our 4th position but also fall to 6th against our opponents who will give us a hard time”, added the director of McLaren Racing.
