Zak Brown extends his contract with McLaren

CEO of McLaren Racing since April 2018, Zak Brown will continue in the same position until 2030, as the team announced this Friday.

Zak Brown, who founded and ran marketing agency Just Marketing International, joined McLaren in 2016, as executive director of the McLaren Technology Group. He then became CEO of Mclaren racing, and played a significant role in the British team's return to the forefront in recent years.

With this new contract, Brown will retain his position until at least 2030. The news broke during the Australian Grand Prix. « Zak has demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities and has been instrumental in the progression of McLaren Racing. His extension reflects our confidence in his ability to lead the team to even greater success in the years to come.", declared Paul Walsh, executive chairman of the McLaren group.

« I am delighted to continue to lead McLaren Racing and be part of such a historic racing team. It is a privilege to work alongside talented men and women in the various championships in which McLaren Racing is involved. Together, us will continue à repel the limit et à shows the best results on et en dehors de la runway », added Brown for his part.

The objective remains clear: Win

After a difficult 2018 season, where McLaren only scored ten points in 21 rounds, the team's performance quickly improved, culminating in the victory of Daniel Ricciardo during the 2021 Italian Grand Prix at Monza. In 2023, the orange single-seaters have finished on the podium nine times, thanks to Lando Norris et Oscar piastri. Both drivers also extended their contracts with McLaren beyond the 2025 season, bringing important stability to the Woking project.

Speaking directly to fans on social network X, Brown reaffirmed his goal of winning for years to come: "EUltimately, as CEO and as a McLaren fan, I want what you want, to win. Let's continue to attack. »

Since his arrival, Brown has also overseen McLaren's development across categories, with a team ofIndyCar from 2020. Today, the McLaren group is also present in Formula E, in Extreme E and supports Bianca Bustamante in the championship F1 Academy. The group also had to navigate the Covid-19 crisis, notably by selling its headquarters in Woking, which it is now renting.
