The Super Pole exercise took place on a dry track for the 20 candidates for this short moment of glory. The rain, which had made a brief appearance a few minutes before the start of the session, had the good taste of disappearing.
Like last year, it's Raffaele Marciello (Mercedes-AMG of Team AKKA-ASP) who won the Super Pole in an exceptional first timed lap. The Italian, in a state of grace, could undoubtedly have been even more efficient in his second revolution (he had improved his times in the 1st and 2nd sectors) if he had not exceeded the limits of the track in the last part of Blanchimont.
take a bow, @Team_RMarciello… 🙌
What a lap to snatch pole for tomorrow's @TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa for the #88 @AKKAASPTEAM #MercedesAMG!
That's the first 2m17s lap of the week, putting him 0.3s clear of the #63 @FFFracingteam #Lamborghinic of @M_Bortolotti #Spa24h 🇧🇪🎢 pic.twitter.com/kPr7IbcqLh

“I am obviously delighted to have achieved this performance”, smiled the Italian a few moments after getting out of the car. “It was a little easier than last year because of the conditions but the level of this championship is particularly high. I also noticed that the Race Direction was very uncompromising regarding respecting the limits of the track. From one year to the next, you really have to pull out all the stops to be the fastest. That said, we all know that in a 24 Hour race, this first place on the grid no longer has the slightest importance a few hundred meters after the start. And we also remember that last year, we were forced to abandon it due to technical problems.”
On the first row, Raffaele Marciello will be next to his compatriot Mirko Bortolotti whose Lamborghini Huracan held first place for a long time before the driver of the 'Benz' 88 achieved his feat.

This Super Pole was not marked by the slightest accident but Laurens Vanthoor recovered from a very compromised situation in the 'Speaker Corner'. His time was deleted for not respecting the track limits. This was also the case, at one time or another, for Ellis, Drouet, Pier Guidi, Rigon, Costa, Aitken and Drudi.
