After 4 hours of racing, it's Mercedes No. 55, driven by Mikael Grenier, who led the 24 Hours. At this precise moment, she was 6 tenths ahead of the all-new BMW M4 with Nicholas Yelloly. At 2 seconds, Michael Christensen on the superb Porsche 911 in Martini colors.

The good news was the 4th position of the Audi 46 which Valentino Rossi was one of the authors of the very good comeback from 35th place on the starting grid.

“We had a little luck with our relays”, commented the Doctor as he handed over the wheel to Fred Vervisch.

“We must admit that this track is the jungle. There is a fight at every corner and the grip changes a lot because of the gravel on the track. In this double relay, I also had to deal with an impressive number of Full Course Yellows. It's not something I'm used to. It doesn't exist in MotoGP ».

It is true that if the first hour of the race took place without the slightest incident, the rest was less happy. We witnessed a multitude of neutralizations, mainly due to cars lost in the gravel traps. We also saw a tractor, equipped with a large machine, trying to clear the stones from the path on the Source side.

Another sore: the incredible multitude of penalties for exceeding track limits. Without doubt the best pilots will be those who escape this implacable rule imposed by the numerous judges of fact.
