The 24 2023 Hours of Dubai were decided until the last half hour.
At the head of the race, the Porsche n°91 de Herberth Motorsport a plongé dans la voie des stands pour un ultime ravitaillement avec moins de dix secondes d’avance sur la BMW n°7 du Team WRT.
Despite a Code 60 (equivalent to a Full Course Yellow in F1) deployed because of another Porsche immobilized at the side of the track, this sounded the death knell for the hopes of victory for the Pro-Am crew made up of Ralf Bohn, Daniel Alleman as well as Alfred and Robert Renauer.
This benefited Dries Vanthoor. The Belgian driver took control of the race and raced towards victory. Accompanied by the Saudi Mohammed Saud Fahad Al Saud, the Mexican Diego Menchaca, the Frenchman Jean-Baptiste Simmenauer as well as the German Jens Klingmann, Vanthoor gave Team WRT its first victory for its first official outing with the BMW M4 GT3.
Vincent Vosse's team placed a second car from the propeller-driven firm on the podium with the #46 of Valentino Rossi, Timothy Wale, Sean Gelael, Max Hesse and Maxime Martin on the third step.
