Adrien Tambay plays placed

By winning the Fast group final, the Cupra driver placed himself as a possible winner of the first round of the Electric Touring Car World Cup season. Everything now depends on Mattias Ekström's result in the other group. This final was eventful, Tambay won ahead of Blomqvist (Cupra) and Maxime Martin (Romeo Ferraris).

Adrien Tambay makes a remarkable debut in ETCR. The son of the former pilot of Formula 1 knows touring car racing well having been an Audi driver in DTM (from 2012 to 2016). He has adapted perfectly to this new 100% electric formula “I love these very short race formats. I'm someone who gets into action quickly, so races of this length suit me perfectly. It’s a great start to the season for the entire Cupra EKS team.” enthuses Adrien. The Ile-de-France driver is ahead of his teammate the Briton Tom Blomqvist in this round who also shows a great capacity for adaptation.

Le podium de la finale est complété par un autre ex-pilote DTM, Maxime Martin. Le Belge a bataillé ferme avec Jean Karl Vernay pour cette dernière place sur le podium. Si le pilote Romeo Ferraris peut se satisfaire de ce début de saison en tant que débutant, ce n’est pas le cas de Jean Karl Vernay (vice champion 2021) qui veut déjà mettre ce week-end derrière lui et se concentrer sur la prochaine manche qui se déroulera sur le circuit d’Istanbul Park dans du 20 au 22 mai prochains. A noter l’accrochage dans cette finale entre Jean Karl Vernay (Hyundai Motorsport) et Luca Filippi (Romeo Ferraris). C’est une nouvelle fois une Giulia qui reste sur le carreau avec beaucoup de travail pour les équipes de Michela Cerruti.

The Furious group final will close this Pau Grand Prix with the green lights at 18:45 p.m.
