Adrien Tambay plays placed

By winning the Fast group final, the Cupra driver placed himself as a possible winner of the first round of the Electric Touring Car World Cup season. Everything now depends on Mattias Ekström's result in the other group. This final was eventful, Tambay won ahead of Blomqvist (Cupra) and Maxime Martin (Romeo Ferraris).

Adrien Tambay plays placed

Adrien Tambay makes a remarkable debut in ETCR. The son of the former pilot of Formula 1 knows touring car racing well having been an Audi driver in DTM (from 2012 to 2016). He has adapted perfectly to this new 100% electric formula “I love these very short race formats. I'm someone who gets into action quickly, so races of this length suit me perfectly. It’s a great start to the season for the entire Cupra EKS team.” enthuses Adrien. The Ile-de-France driver is ahead of his teammate the Briton Tom Blomqvist in this round who also shows a great capacity for adaptation.

The final podium is completed by another ex-DTM driver, Maxime Martin. The Belgian fought hard with Jean Karl Vernay for this last place on the podium. If the Romeo Ferraris driver can be satisfied with this start to the season as a beginner, this is not the case for Jean Karl Vernay (vice champion 2021) who already wants to put this weekend behind him and concentrate on the next round which will take place on the Istanbul Park circuit from May 20 to 22. Note the clash in this final between Jean Karl Vernay (Hyundai Motorsport) and Luca Filippi (Romeo Ferraris). It is once again a Giulia which remains on the floor with a lot of work for Michela Cerruti's teams.

The Furious group final will close this Pau Grand Prix with the green lights at 18:45 p.m.

Fast Group Final Ranking:

1 In Tambay (Cupra) the 8 laps in 11'32”960, 2. T.Blomqvist (Cupra) at 1”7, 3. M.Martin (Romeo Ferraris) at 2”8, 4. JK Vernay (Hyundai) at 5”0. N. Michelisz (Hyundai) at 5’48. L Filippi (Romeo Ferraris) at 1 laps
