Alessandro Ghiretti: “Being the Junior France means representing Porsche France”

Where did you discover the PCCF Junior program?

I was helped by Julien Andlauer (winner of the PCCF in 2017. Editor’s note), whom I know very well. He advised me to try my luck. Plus, he knew I was a big fan of the brand forever.

How did these tests go?

These are two very well organized days where we combine driving and physical tests. I didn't have too much pressure, because you just have to give your best and stay focused. I told myself that in 48 hours they would find what they were looking for, so I did the best I could.

What was your reaction when you were chosen?

What has this brought you for the 2021 season?

I arrived more confident, more sure of myself. Winning the selection is a small step before starting the year. Since the start of the season, I have always been supported and well supervised.

Have you chosen to join Martinet by Alméras?

Yes, Hope freely chooses its team. I had several proposals, I called on Laurie and the people at the PCCF to guide me a little. I selected the best option and the final choice was mine. Martinet by Alméras is a legendary team, which has seen the growth of many champions and official Porsche drivers (Julien Andlauer, Mathieu Jaminet… Editor’s note). They have already won lots of titles, it is a reference, especially in France. I feel good here, it's like family.

How do you judge your start to the season?

It is correct for a rookie. I am 4e championship, but I made a few avoidable mistakes. I still have a lot to learn and improve. That's what I'm aiming for at the end of the season, to gain more experience and speed. I focus on myself and my progress.

Do you know what your future will hold?

Honestly, it's still unclear. I would very much like to stay in PCCF. I completed a Supercup round and hope to do others, or even a double program. It's too early to decide, but it's in my plans. When I see Dorian Boccolacci on the track, it makes me want to do a double bill. It's good to have a teammate with experience. I would like to do the same thing next year.

Do you have any advice for candidates for the Junior 2022 program?

I would tell them not to overdo it. Drive the way you know how and be the way you are in life. PCCF officials are looking for an efficient and pleasant pilot. You have to stay natural and give the best of yourself.
