Aston Martin on the carpet, BMW emerges from the night in the lead

The night of the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring knocked Aston Martin out of the game after Nicki Thiim went off the track. The #20 BMW takes the lead at dawn, followed by Audi and Mercedes.

The situation evolved during the night of the 50th edition of the 24 Hours of Nürburgring with two new favorite crews on the mat. L'Aston Martin Vantage AMR n°90 of TF Sport driven by Marco Sorensen, Nicki Thiim, David Pittard and Maxime Martin was the first nighttime victim in the Eifel after Thiim went off the track at Schwalbenschwanz. The situation could have benefited the #4 ROWE Racing BMW M3 GT98 of Nicky Catsburg, John Edwards, Sheldon van der Linde and Marco Wittman, but it was also eliminated from the field after an accident two laps after that of the 'Aston Martin.

As the sun rose, another BMW emerged in the lead. The No. 20 from Schubert Motorsport of Jesse Kurki-Suonio, Alexander Sims, Jens Klingmann and Niklas Kruetten.
