Broc Feeney wins first race of 2024 at Bathurst

Broc Feeney responds to the status of favorite which has been attributed to him by all the Australian Supercars experts. However, it was his teammate Will Brown who took pole position in this first confrontation of the season. At the green light, the new triple Eight driver keeps the advantage over Feeney and a very aggressive and determined Chaz Mostert. Mayhem at the first corner brings the first intervention of the safety car.

When the pack was released, Brown retained control of the race. The change of leader takes place during pit stops. Brown was the first to stop while Feeney, having free rein, managed to put out a sufficiently efficient lap to allow him, one lap later, to come out of the pits in front of the Camaro flanked by the number 87!

Triple Eight is the others

The Brisbane team led this race unchallenged. The two drivers are never separated from each other by more than two seconds. With the rest of the troop kept in check, Feeney and Brown were able to apply to the letter the tactics put in place before the race. Chaz Mostert (Walkinshaw Andretti United) finished third in this first meeting. The whimsical Ford driver is satisfied with this result which sees him return to a podium after a very difficult year in 2023.

The great performances are those of Richie Stanaway (Whole grained Racing) who finished 4th for his full-time return to Supercars. The winner of Bathurst 2023 will be fondly remembered by all. However, the weekend got off to a bad start for him who put his Camaro into the wall during free practice. The good surprise came from Cameron Hill of Matt Stone Racing who finished fifth in the round after having had a very solid race.

We can already talk about the first disappointment concerning Cameron Waters (Tickford racing) who finished 22nd and last car classified. We will have to quickly get back together for one of the big names in the championship. The Dick Johnson Racing drivers also missed out on their first race. Will Davison is 16th while Anton de Pasquale ranks 21st in the round.

There are two races remaining in the Bathurst 500, the first weekend of Australian Supercars competition.
