Van Gisbergen the success machine

With 12 races still to go, there is no doubt that the New Zealander will probably shatter Scott McLaughlin's record of 18 victories over a full season. Van Gisbergen is truly on another planet. No matter the level of competitiveness of its opponents and the speed they can display over a weekend of competition, “SvG” always finds a way to outclass them by demonstrating great mastery behind the wheel and impeccable top speed. He also has this flair and this sense of attack which make him the finest sleuth of his generation.

In the first of the day's races, he started from pole position and it was with undivided domination that he won this 25th event of the season ahead of Chaz Mostert (Walkinshaw Andretti United) and Will Brown (Erebus Motorsport). , definitely very comfortable on Sandown Raceway. His runner-up in the general classification, Anton de Pasquale (Dick Johnson Racing), only finished 8th in this round. With 446 points in advance (i.e. 4 victories in advance, editor's note), he can afford to see it coming.

But this is a poor understanding of his temperament since in the second race, Van Gisbergen won his 16th race in 2022. Will Davidson (Dick Johnson Racing), transparent in the previous race, found his way back to the podium by finishing in second place. Broc Freeney, Van Gisbergen's teammate, completed Triple Engineering's superb success by placing 3rd in the round.

In the general classification, Van Gisbergen flies through the 2022 season. Cameron Waters (Tickford Racing) takes second place from Pasquale who even falls to 4th place in the standings behind his teammate Davison.
