The Surfer's Paradise circuit on Australia's Gold Coast often offers spectacular images. After three years of absence, the urban track was once again the scene of a big one in Supercars, this Sunday, October 30, during the 32nd race of the 2022 season.

On the fourth lap, 11 drivers were involved in this pileup at the exit of the fast chicane. James Golding first hits a pile of tires and spins. Thomas Randle was the first to touch the tires in the middle of the track and hit the wall on the right. This could not be avoided by Nick Percat and Macauley Jones. Next to them, Broc Feeney was sent into the wall by James Courtney, who was hooked by Lee Holdsworth.
Fortunately, everyone escaped unscathed, even if we had to wave the red flag to evacuate the wreckage for around twenty minutes.

“It’s a shame, so many cars are destined for the scrapyard, said Nick Percat. I think that in our time, we have gone a little beyond the use of tires (to delimit the track. Editor’s note). Obviously James lost control, but he shouldn't pay the price like that. »
The race then took on an even more usual form, that is to say that Shane van Gisbergen (Holden) dominated the debates, to sign his 21st victory of the year, his fifth in a row. The New Zealander, one month after his great performance in his rally national and the day after his coronation, brought his team Triple Eight the Team title. There is still one Supercars round to go, the legendary Adelaide race (December 1-4).
