Blancpain – Marc VDS Racing files complaint

The finals of the GT endurance disciplines seem very complicated to resolve. After the disappointment of the FIA GT1 World where All-Inkl.com Munnich Motorsport won the title despite being downgraded from the Championship Race, it is the turn of Blancpain Endurance Series to be in uncertainty of the result concerning the last event of the season in Navarra. By placing two Audi R8 LMS ultras on the podium with the No. 1 of Christopher Mies, Stéphane Ortelli and Christopher Haase in second position, Team WRT won the Drivers and Teams titles with a three-point lead over the Leinders-Palttala crew. -Martin entered in the Marc VDS Racing BMW Z4.

However, the result of the Spanish event remains pending since Marc VDS Racing lodged a protest, specifying that it had noted infractions of the regulations during the pit stops of the No. 8 R1 LMS. The organizers decided to reject this protest, but Marc van der Straten's team maintains its position and has decided to appeal. “We would have liked the Championship to end in a sporting manner, which implies that all competitors respect the regulations, but we feel that this was not the case in this particular race”, explains Bas Leinders, the driver of the No. 4 Z3 who also serves as Team Principal. “It was clearly not an easy decision to make to appeal because it does not correspond to the spirit of Marc VDS Racing nor that of the Blancpain Endurance Series. »
