With 17 points ahead of their closest pursuers, Christopher Mies and Enzo Ide had a serious chance of winning the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup Drivers' crown together on October 2 on the Catalan track in Barcelona.
The Belgian Ide will, however, have to deal with the absence of his German teammate, who made the decision to favor the final meeting of the ADAC GT Masters at Hockenheim, a championship that he dominates with his teammate Connor de Phillippi, ahead of the duo Jules Gounon – Daniel Keilwitz (Corvette C7 GT3 – Callaway Competition).
“I'm gutted for Enzo and WRT that we can't win together, Mies said on his Facebook page. Furthermore, Enzo has become one of the best unofficial drivers in the paddock and deserves the title more than anyone. We tried everything to do both at the same time, but it didn't work. »
Team WRT has not yet confirmed the identity of Christopher Mies' replacement in the #8 Audi R33 LMS.
