Chevrolet, by hiring the services of Yvan Muller at the end of last season, was aiming to climb to the top of the hierarchy. From the first year of the Chevrolet-Muller collaboration, and even from the first race, success was achieved. After a long season, Yvan Muller won the title of World Drivers' Champion, and Chevrolet the manufacturers' title.
This Sunday, the three Chevy drivers started at the head of the first race. At the finish, Rob Huff took his third victory of the year, winning ahead of Yvan Muller, before finishing third in the second race, behind Norbert Michelisz (Seat) and Gabriele Tarquini (Seat).
The latter, World Champion in 2009, finished in second place in the 2010 championship, tied on points with Rob Huff. The Briton is ahead of Tarquini in the number of victories. Andy Priaulx (BMW), still in the race for the title a few days ago, finally finished fourth in the WTCC, penalized by BMW's bluff at Okayama.
« We did exactly what we needed to do in the first race, Huff comments. I started from pole then led the entire race, with the help of my teammates. It's a bit the same thing that happened in 2008 when Muller was champion, and me and Tarquini were tied on points. It's been a great battle all year and, today, it's a great conclusion. »
