Death of Domingos Piedade, former boss of AMG

Domingos Piedade spent no less than 27 years in the sports channel of Mercedes- Benz. Entering the German company as a simple employee, he rose through the ranks to eventually take the position of vice-president, while managing AMG's competition commitments.

It was in this capacity that he roamed the paddocks of the German Touring Championship (DTM) during the brand's commitment to the Star. Moreover, Domingos Piedade was manager of several pilots Brazilians when they arrived in Europe in search of a seat in the promotion formulas.

It was in this context that he established links with Emerson Fittipaldi, Nelson Piquet and Ayrton Senna. In addition, in the 1980s he advised manager Willi Weber to take a certain Michael Schumacher, then host of races karting across the Rhine.

In addition, we owe to Domingos Piedade the introduction of the medical car, decided during the 1984 Portuguese Grand Prix, won by Alain Prost on McLaren. Domingos Piedade also scored 24 Hours of Le Mans with two victories as team director of Joest Racing in 1984 and 1985, avec la mythique Porsche 956.
