Emil Frey scores a double in race 1 in Barcelona

There's no stopping Emil Frey Racing. Winner of a race at Zandvoort during the previous meeting, the Swiss team did it again during race 1 in Barcelona thanks to Giacomo Altoè and Albert Costa. It even achieved the first double in its history, with the sister car entered in Silver which ranked second, in the hands of Ricardo Feller and Mikaël Grenier. The winners are 14,5 points behind the championship leaders, two races from the end. The crews better ranked overall also carried out a bad operation.

The two Lamborghinis took advantage of the poor start of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 from Haupt Racing led by Luca Stolz and Maro Engel, started in second position. She finally finished fifth. This is still a better result than the two Audis from Team WRT who took sixth and seventh positions, with Dries Vanthoor-Charles Weerts and Ryuichiro Tomita-Kelvin Van der Linde respectively.

The worst operation is for the No. 25 Saintéloc Racing Audi. Already in a delicate position in the championship, the Christopher Haase-Arthur Rougier crew finished 14th due to a drive through for overtaking under a safety car.

On the other hand, as usual, AKKA-ASP is still present. Rarely a winner but often placed. In the hands of Raffaele Marciello and Timur Boguslavskiy, the #88 Mercedes secured third place and the Russian remains in contention for the title.

In Pro-Am, the championship is relaunched unexpectedly. Undisputed leader and poleman, the Eddie Cheever – Chris Froggatt crew finished in the gravel from the first laps of the race with the Ferrari of Tempesta Racing and ranks last in the category. It was won by Louis Machiels and Andrea Bertolini in the #52 AF Corse Ferrari.
