Christian Engelhart made a very strange decision which proved to have serious consequences for the Grasser Racing Team and his teammate Mirko Bortolotti.
While the #63 Lamborghini Huracan lost its victory in Race 1 of the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup due to a poorly fixed harness by Christian Engelhart, the stewards decided to exclude the Italian mount from the meeting, which will therefore not participate in the second event this Sunday.
The race management realized that Christian Engelhart had voluntarily removed his harness and removed his gloves after crossing the finish line. If the former pilot of Porsche Supercup could have had a moment of absence, it is not the case. The 31-year-old German broke safety regulations simply to remove the SD card from the on-board camera in order to destroy it before returning to the pits.
The driver was reminded that he had the right to appeal the stewards' decision, but it might be best if he did nothing.
