Farfus does not lose hope

The Brazilian still wants to believe in the title, he who was very close to taking control on the evening of Oschersleben. Before the last three rounds of the season, the BMW driver was a small point behind Gabriele Tarquini and six points ahead of Yvan Muller. But, four races later, Farfus found himself relegated thirteen and eleven points behind the two men.

But the Brazilian says he is already satisfied to be able to be in this situation, despite his delay on the Seat drivers. “ I'm happy to go to Macau with a chance to win the world championship title. » And, while thinking about his personal case, Farfus does not forget BMW?s objective. “ It's very close in the constructors' championship. BMW and I will do everything possible to win both titles in Macau and bring them back to Munich. We are realistic and know very well that it will not be easy, continues the BMW driver. But, personally, I have nothing to lose and I will give the best of myself. »

Despite everything, the advantage goes to the Seat drivers, who dominate the drivers' standings, but the Brazilian does not want to admit defeat. “ It goes without saying that Gabriele Tarquini and Yvan Muller are in a much better position. However, Macau has always been the scene of many surprises. Thirteen points is a significant gap, but I will try to stay in an ideal position in order to take advantage of any weaknesses that the two drivers in front of me may show. »

Augusto Farfus, who arrived in Macau as leader in 2006, lost the title in the final stretch, but the Brazilian does not see the same situation happening again. “ It was a different situation, I still had a chance to win the title back then with Alfa Romeo. But I had to run with a 70kg handicap, which meant I wasn't as competitive in Macau as I needed to be. This time, each contender for the title will carry a 40 kg handicap. This time, I am not entering into battle with a dull weapon. »
