It is sadly, behind the Safety Car, that world tourism ended 17 years of competition. This last race in the history of the WTCR was much more turbulent than the first, won by the Frenchman Nathanaël Berthon, who could still claim the honorary title of vice-champion behind the Spaniard Mikel Azcona, crowned yesterday.
The Clermontois tried everything but came up against a particularly tough Rob Huff. The two men ended up touching, with Berthon damaging the suspension of his Audi R3 LMS on the door of his British rival's Cupra.
Penalized for lack of fuel in his tank after qualifying, Nestor Girolami finally finished runner-up to Azcona after moving up to 8th place. The Argentinian signs his best result in his WTCR career. Furious after the tussle with Huff, Berthon still finished on the final podium of the championship.

The first laps of the C2 were hectic. Franco Girolami (Audi) actually hit the Honda Civic of race leader Atilla Tassi, picking up the unfortunate Nicky Catsburg (Hyundai Motorsport). Taking advantage of these racing incidents, the champion Azcona slipped to the third step of the podium behind one of the guests at the end of the season, the Georgian Viktor Davidovski (Audi), and the winner Gilles Magnus.
The next adventures in global tourism will begin next year with the TCR World Tour.
