22 cars at Zandvoort in sprint cup

Next weekend promises to be very busy in the world of GT. The day before the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring, the GT World Challenge travels to Zandvoort to contest two sprint races, one on Friday and one on Saturday, to allow drivers and teams to reach the Eifel on time.

22 cars will compete for victory on September 12 and 13. There Ferrari 488 GT3 of Sky Tempesta Racing entrusted to Giancarlo Fisichella and Jonathan Hui at Magny-Cours, winner in Pro-AM, will be absent.

Among the crews, only one change to note since Magny-Cours. At AKKA-ASP, Felipe Fraga will replace Raffaele Marciello in the Mercedes-AMG n°88, alongside Timur Boguslavskiy.

The Russian will therefore be the only one to compete for the pilot title. He currently occupies second place in the general classification, four points behind the duo Charles Weerts – Dries Vanthoor in the Audi R8 LMS GT3 of the WRT team. The Belgian team also leads the sprint cup this time ahead of Luca Stolz and Maro Engel at Haupt Racing.

In 2019, AKKA-ASP won race 1 with Vincent Abril and Rafaele Marciello. Race 2 was won by the duo Simon Gachet Christopher Haase in the Saintéloc Racing Audi.

The entry list.
