24 Hours of Spa – The Porsche 47 of Vanthoor, Tandy and Olsen takes the lead in the morning

Le fait le plus important concerne la violente sortie de piste de la Porsche 16 pilotée par Matt Payne qui imposa l’arrêt de l’épreuve pendant près d’une heure. La voiture, partie en tonneaux dans un bac à gravier, termina sa course folle dans des rails qu’il fallut remplacer. Le pilote de cette Porsche, indemne, fut malgré tout emmené au centre médical du circuit.

We also noted the abandonment of the Porsche 54 which, at the start of the event, had occupied 1st place. It appears that after contact following a puncture, the car displayed erratic handling.

On the Audi side, we are hardly celebrating. It is the RS 8 LMS 99 from Attempto Racing which saves the honor of the brand with the rings with 14th position for the moment while occupying the lead in the Silver Cup.

Another important fact: while the Ferrari 71 was fighting for first place, Davide Ricon was penalized with a Drive Through for not respecting the speed limit during a Full Course Yellow which plunged the beautiful Italian to 9th place.

At 8:00 a.m., it's the Porsche 47, which started from the back of the grid following its problems in qualifying, which leads the way with Laurens Vanthoor at the wheel. A remarkable performance to which we must obviously associate Dennis Olsen and Nick Tandy but behind it, there is a lot of honking. At this stage, six brands can achieve victory in this very eventful edition of the 24 Hours of Spa.
