Belgian Audi Club Team WRT and Emil Frey Racing winners at Zandvoort

To allow the drivers involved in the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring to get there, the organizers of the GT World Challenge Europe decided to organize the two races on the same day. So, Saturday was very lively on the Zandvoort side.

The first round of this race weekend in the Netherlands went to the Belgian Audi Club Team WRT and its R8 LMS GT3. The Ryuichiro Tomita/Kelvin van der Linde duo dominated the proceedings during Race 1.

The two men had no trouble securing the first victory of this round at Zandvoort, on the contrary. They easily won with more than 30 seconds in advance! Behind the Belgian Audi Club Team WRT duo were two Silver Cup teams, CMR (Pierre Alexandre Jean and Hugo Chevalier) and Sainteloc Racing (Steven Palette and Simon Gachet).

The other CMR crew (Nelson Panciatici and Jules Gounon) finished 5th behind the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo of the Emil Frey Racing team (Giacomo Altoe and Albert Costa), a team featured in Race 2.

Indeed, the Swiss team had a much better second meeting at Zandvoort. Fourth, 37 seconds behind the winners, the Altoe/Costa duo climbed to the highest step of the podium in the afternoon and in what way.

The two men from Emil Frey Racing drove their Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo to victory, 17 seconds ahead of the R8 LMS GT3 of the Sainteloc Racing crew (Arthur Rougier and Christopher Haase). The AKKA ASP team led by the Boguslavskiy/Fraga duo completes the podium, 25 seconds from the lead.

The first crew entered in the Silver Cup in the standings is that of Tech 1 Racing led by Aurelien Panis and Thomas Neubauer. Both men finished fourth, less than a second from the podium.
