France in the spotlight

In the 1990s, the Grand Touring category experienced delusions of grandeur. Although the BPR Global GT Series adventure only lasted three years, from 1994 to 1996, it gave birth to some incredible images.

Founded by Jürgen Barth, Patrick Peter and Stéphane Ratel, the BPR puts in the running Ferrari F40 LM with McLaren F1 GTR, Lotus Esprit and Venturi 600 LM, even Jaguar XJ220C in the GT1 class. It is a real concerto which is offered to spectators of legendary circuits, such as Montlhéry (Essonne) and its famous concrete banking or the narrow track of Nogaro (Gers):

 

 

 

 

For those who were unable to witness these battles between priceless cars, some amateur cameramen had the good idea of ​​digitizing their films shot in Anderstorp (Sweden) and Silverstone (Great Britain).

 

 

 

Turn up the volume!

And inside these monsters you ask me? It's just the 7th Symphony! V12 engine for McLaren and Ferrari, V8 for Lotus, H-shaped gearboxes, it's old-fashioned motorsport, which is good for your ears! To top it off, on-board cameras were commonplace in BPR, so we offer you a nice selection, with a predominance for the McLaren F1 GTRs:
