R-Motorsport ends its 2020 season in GT3 and GT4

The announcement is not entirely a surprise since the team led by Dr Florian Kamelger had already indicated earlier in the year wanting to refocus its resources in preparation for the 2021 campaign.

But this Monday, faced with the current situation made difficult due to the coronavirus pandemic, R-Motorsport has officially confirmed its absence from the GT3 and GT4 races, whose GT World Challenge Europe where the Swiss team was mainly engaged.

« We did not take this decision lightly, confesses Dr. Florian Kamelger in a press release. However, it does not make business sense for R-Universe to go racing with an unprofitable and artificially shortened racing program with a late season start that could even develop unpredictably.

On top of this, access restrictions required at racing events prevent us from offering our exclusive R-Experience hospitality for our customers and partners, which is vital not only to R-Motorsport but to the activities of the our entire group of companies in the R-Universe.

Beyond the decision not to race this season, we are already fully committed to our program in 2021 and beyond. »

R-Motorsport had already confirmed its withdrawal from DTM after a single campaign in 2020.
