For his reconversion after his many years in the world of two-wheelers, Valentino Rossi bet on the GT World Challenge Europe. Accustomed to participating in a few GT races every year, the Transalpine rider decided to devote himself to it full time by signing up with Team WRT, the reigning champion team.
Valentino Rossi will begin this “second” career with a double program in GT World Challenge Europe since he will compete in the Sprint and Endurance Cup. On the Audi R8 LMS GT3 sporting the No. 46, his lifelong number, “il Dottore” (the doctor, his nickname in Italian. Editor's note) will be accompanied by Frédéric Vervisch throughout the season while Nico Müller will complete the crew during the Endurance rounds. After a few tests since December, the Italian is finally ready for his first round of GTWCE this weekend (1e-April 3) near Imola.
« We finally arrive at the first race of the season, savors the main interested party, delighted to be able to run in front of his audience. It's great that it's in Italy and Imola, a fantastic circuit and with a lot of history. We did some testing there. The feeling with the car was good and the pace was not bad. We are ready for the first meeting, everything will be new for me, but I think I will understand things better as the weekend goes on. I also expect a lot of fans to come and support us! »
