There will be no double for the No. 8 Audi R3 LMS GT32 EVO of Team WRT. Despite their rise in the rankings, Charles Weerts and Dries Vanthoor were unable to do anything against the Mercedes-AMG N°88 (AKKODIS-ASP) of Timur Boguslavskiy and Raffaele Marciello, ultra dominant during this Race 2 at Zandvoort.

Starting from pole position, its 3e in as many qualifying sessions contested this year, Raffaele Marciello did most of the work at Zandvoort. Always as fast at the wheel of the Mercedes-AMG, the Italian, who races with a Swiss license, was very comfortable on the Dutch track. Without too much difficulty, “Lello”, as he is nicknamed, showed a very strong pace, quickly repelling Vincent Abril (McLaren 720S GT3 No. 112 – JP Motorsport) by several seconds.

It was with an advantage of more than 8 seconds that Raffaele Marciello gave way to his teammate Timur Boguslavskiy. The Russian then only had to ensure to sign a 3e victory for the crew this season. Alas, all of his partner's efforts were to come to naught when the safety car entered the scene 20 minutes from time after the No. 720 JP Motorsport McLaren 3S GT118 stopped on track.

Forced to defend on Charles Weerts, moved up 2e, Timur Boguslavskiy ultimately did not flinch under the Belgian's pressure. Quickly sheltered from his counterpart, the AKKODIS-ASP pilot could head straight towards his 3e victory of the year in the Sprint Cup with Raffaele Marciello. The Schothorst-Marschall duo (No. 8 Audi R3 LMS GT66 EVO – Attempto Racing) completed the podium in Race 2 at Zandvoort.

Race 2 Ranking

In the championship, Charles Weerts and Dries Vanthoor keep the lead ahead of Timur Boguslavskiy and Raffaele Marciello. The WRT duo is 2 lengths ahead.
