The German takes a clean and flawless pole position in the Mercedes n°4 of Haupt Racing with a time of 8'57"884. A nice revenge for the team after the accident of the No. 2 on Thursday evening which led to almost a day of repairs.

Engel managed to perfectly master very tricky conditions with a track that was generally drying but very irregular. Unknown or almost unknown at the start of the season, the team revealed itself during the last round of Nürburgring Endurance Series by moving within one round of winning thanks to a very good strategy.
