Haupt Racing on pole at the 24h of the Nürburgring

Four seconds. Maro Engel took a full four seconds from all these opponents during the “Top Qualifying” of the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring. The German takes a clean and flawless pole position in the Mercedes n°4 of Haupt Racing with a time of 8'57"884. A nice revenge for the team after the accident of the No. 2 on Thursday evening which led to almost a day of repairs.

Engel managed to perfectly master very tricky conditions with a track that was generally drying but very irregular. If seeing the German at this level will not surprise anyone, we did not expect to see behind him a Ferrari, and especially that of Octane 126. Unknown or almost unknown at the start of the season, the team revealed itself during the last round of Nürburgring Endurance Series by moving within one round of winning thanks to a very good strategy.

This time, it was the talent of Luca Ludwig that spoke. The 31-year-old finished ahead of Raffaele Marciello in the #9 GetSpeed Mercedes. The manufacturer places three cars in the top four and shares eight places in the top 10 with BMW. Note the good performance of Matthieu Vaxivière in the other GetSpeed Mercedes.

The first Audi, the official number 3 of Mirko Bortolotti, is only eleventh and the first Porsche fourteenth.
