Joey Logano remains the king of banking in Las Vegas

Joey Logano quickly got rid of his disappointment at the Daytona 500 (26th) by achieving his first success of the year 2020 in Nascar Cup Series last night in Las Vegas (Nevada).

The Team Penske driver took his Ford Mustang to Victory Lane, as in 2019 for the February event in the casino city. A success partly shaped by a strategic choice to stay on the track on worn tires when neutralized on the 261st lap after the spin of Ross Chastain, replacing Ryan Newman at Roush Fenway Racing – Ford after his Daytona crash .

On the restart on lap 266, Logano held off William Byron (Hendrick Motorsports – Chevrolet) and Ricky Stenhouse Jr (JTG Daugherty Racing – Chevrolet) to take the lead just before a crash at the back of the pack, causing a final yellow flag which sealed the race. victory for Logano, his 24th career.

Matt diBenedetto offers second place to Wood Brothers Racing – Ford, when the top 5 is completed by Stenhouse Jr, Austin Dillon (Richard Childress Racing – Chevrolet) and Jimmie Johnson (Hendrick Motorsports).

Epreuve beaucoup plus compliquée en revanche dans le clan Toyota, puisque la meilleure Camry, la n°18 de Kyle Busch ne termine que 15e.
