Kyle Larson suspended for racist remarks

Kyle Larson was suspended by the Nascar after making racist remarks during a virtual race on iRacing last Sunday during Monza Madness.

While the Chip Ganassi Racing resident published his race on the Twitch platform, he communicated with his spotter during tests of his microphone by calling him “nigger”. This incident turned into tragedy for the six-time Cup Series winner as he was also laid off by his team and Chevrolet, while his main sponsors, McDonalds and Credit One Bank, terminated their contract.

“We are very disappointed by what Kyle said last Sunday during an event on iRacing. The words he chose are offensive and unacceptable. We are currently suspending Kyle without pay and will review the situation.", commented Chip Ganassi Racing.

Kyle Larson quickly responded by posting a video in which he apologized.

"I just want to say I'm sorry, did he declare. I made a mistake (last Sunday) and said a word I should never have said and I have no excuse for that. I wasn't raised that way, it's just horrible to say that. I am truly sorry to my family, my friends, my partners, the Nascar community and African-Americans. I know the damage is probably irreparable. I recognize him. »

Nascar will require Kyle Larson to participate in a sensitivity program.
