The start of the season postponed, Italy replaces Slovakia

Given the health crisis, the WTCR was forced to adapt. Thus, the start of the season was postponed. Initially scheduled for the weekend of May 14, the first meeting of the year was postponed to June.

In addition, the start of the 2021 season will not take place in Hungary but at the Nürburgring in Germany (June 3-5). The Hungarian round was rescheduled for August (21-22) after an agreement with the local government.

An essential moment of the last campaign, the weekend in Slovakia paid the price for the pandemic. Faced with this situation, the meeting at the Slovakia Ring was simply canceled. Instead, WTCR organizers have included Italy in the calendar (July 31-August 1). Both races will take place at the Adria International Raceway.

In other news, the return of the WTCR to Asia has been postponed by a week. The participants will compete in the round in South Korea on October 16 and 17 and not on the 9 and 10 of the same month.

The new 2021 WTCR calendar

  • Germany – Nürburgring Nordschleife (June 3-5)
  • Portugal – Vila Real (June 26-27)
  • Spain – MotorLand Aragón (July 10-11)
  • Italy – Adria International Raceway (July 31-August 1)
  • Hungary – Hungaroring (August 21-22)
  • South Korea – Inje Speedium (October 16-17)
  • China – To be confirmed (November 6-7)
  • Macau – Guia Circuit (November 19-21)
