The 2021 Tour Auto will feature a Ferrari and a Jaguar

In 2021, the Tour Auto will celebrate its 30th edition. The pearl wedding milestone must therefore be celebrated as it should be. We were already aware of a return to more traditional dates (April 19-25) while the previous edition had been postponed to September, due to coronavirus. A new level is reached with the appearance of the poster and the main theme.

Two models, which marked the history of the Tour de France Automobile during its early years, are in the spotlight. In the foreground, the Ferrari 250GT Berlinetta, red, obviously. Also called "SWB" (Short Wheel Base, short chassis in French), the coupe had won the French event thanks to a hat-trick, from 1960 to 1962 and especially a resounding quadruple in 1961. Willy Mairesse had beaten Olivier Gendebien , Maurice Trintignant and Edgar Berney.

In the background is the Jaguar MK II, decked out in his “British Racing Green” dress. Less powerful, the fake luxury sedan was reserved for the Tourism class and monopolized the podiums between 1960 and 1963. Bernard Constent, four-time winner on board, became the organizer of the Tour Auto in 1969 for 11 years.

Now all that remains is to know the route! We just know that the start will exceptionally be given from the Champ de Mars in Paris, in the ephemeral structure of the Grand Palais. The monument is currently under renovation.
