Year-round commitments for a single car authorized for 2020

Teams wishing to enter a single car per year in WTCR World Touring Car Cup will be delighted: Eurosport Events has opened registrations for this purpose to compete in the six European rounds which will make up the calendar.

The promoter had completed the first and traditional commitment phase on March 6, before the containment measures and the cessation of motorsport activities and several drivers had not been able to validate their program before this date.

Race-by-race entries still remain possible, with drivers not being able to score points in the general classification.

“However, to be fair to existing teams, these new participants will not be eligible for the Teams ranking, comments François Ribeiro, head of Eurosport Events.

Drivers will be able to score points and compete for a coveted FIA world title. Additionally, if existing teams wish to submit an additional entry, they can do so but only for a driver eligible for the new rookie classification. »

Among the cost control measures desired by Eurosport Events, the authorized personnel per car will be reduced to 6 (-15%), while tire allocations will also be limited to 16 new sets for the first round, then 12 new ones for the second. , and 16 thereafter. The price of gasoline will be capped at €4 per liter (- 30%).
