Menu mate the British

Chevrolet had not won in the WTCC since May 17 and Alain Menu's success in Pau. After six races without a victory, the Swiss allowed Chevy to return to the top step of the podium. Thanks to the second place of Briton Robert Huff, the Cruzes even took the double, a first this season for Chevrolet. Andy Priaulx, third, returned to the podium for his national race, a podium he had not yet been on since the start of the European races.

The big loser of this race is Yvan Muller. The Frenchman is well on his way to achieving zero points during this English weekend. At the wheel of his Seat Leon TDi, Muller had to retire on the first lap, following a collision caused by Augusto Farfus, who also lost the opportunity to score big points with a view to the world crown, by not finishing only in eighth place. However, he will have the advantage, according to the reverse grid principle, of starting from pole for the second race. The good performance goes to Gabriele Tarquini, fourth, who is nine points behind Yvan Muller in the general classification. Could the Italian want to get much closer to the 2008 world champion after the second race?
