Nascar – Allmendinger wins at Watkins Glen

AJ Allmendinger (JTG Daugherty Racing) took his first victory in Nascar Sprint Cup by winning the Watkins Glen road event after delivering a superb battle against Marcos Ambrose (Richard Petty Motorsports) during the final restart. At the cost of several contacts with the No. 9 Ford, the driver of the No. 47 Chevrolet scored his first success after still leading a third of the race.

Kurt Busch (Stewart-Haas Racing) scored his fifth top 5 of the season by taking third place ahead of Kyle Larson (Chip Ganassi Racing) and Carl Edwards (Roush Fenway Racing). Joey Logano (Team Penske) took sixth place ahead of Kevin Harvick (Stewart-Haas Racing) and Greg Biffle (Roush Fenway Racing). Conversely, several drivers suffered in this eventful event: reigning winner Kyle Busch (Joe Gibbs Racing) damaged his car, Brad Keselowski (Team Penske) encountered brake problems... But it was the crash of Ryan Newman (Richard Childress Racing) and Michael McDowell (Leavine Family Racing) who left their mark even if the drivers were unhurt.
