The 400 miles of Pocono seemed to be destined for Brad Kewelowski (Team Penske), as the 2012 champion led the event from the first laps. But the driver of the No. 2 Ford had to cede victory to Dale Earnhardt Jr (Hendrick Motorsports) after being the victim of overheating caused by debris present in the air vent. The Fusion driver must be satisfied for the second time in a row with second place after Dover.
On the other hand, Dale Earnhardt Jr definitively ensures an entry into the Chase by securing his second victory of the season after that won at Daytona 500. His teammate Jimmie Johnson, who remained on two consecutive successes, took sixth place behind Kurt Busch (Stewart-Haas Racing), Denny Hamlin (Joe Gibbs Racing) and Kyle Larson (Chip Ganassi Racing).
