Nascar – Denny Hamlin wins in Chicagoland

Denny Hamlin proved in Chicagoland (Illinois) that he had lost none of his competitiveness despite his leg injury. The pilot of the Toyota n°11 a offert à la Joe Gibbs Racing son huitième succès en dix courses en décrochant sa seconde victoire de la saison après Martinsville (Tennessee) en mars dernier, la 16e de sa carrière, qui lui permet de s’assurer une place pour la prochaine manche du Chase, le « Contender Round ».

The winner made the difference by taking advantage of a good strategy from his team which made him keep his set of worn tires in order to take the lead during the last restart. Carl edwards ensured a double for Joe Gibbs by beating Kurt Busch (Stewart-Haas Racing), Ryan Newman (Richard Childress Racing) and Matt Kenseth (Joe Gibbs Racing).

On the other hand, the start of the Chase is more complicated for Kevin Harvick (Stewart-Haas Racing). The defending champion finished second to last after hitting the wall following contact with Jimmie johnson (Hendrick Motorsports) who was able to continue to finish just outside the top ten.
