Nascar – Joey Logano concludes in style in Michigan

He started first and finished first. But between the two moments, a lot of things happened. However, it was Joey Logano (Team Penske) who won the Pure Michigan 400. The driver of the No. 22 Ford Fusion, who had not finished better than 3rd this year, thus concluded a weekend perfect for him, after having already won the track record and the pole on Friday: the first of his season, within his new team. Better still, he brings happiness to his employer, Roger Penske, who owned the Michigan International Speedway a few years ago and whose headquarters are located not far from there.

Behind Logano, Kevin Harvick (Richard Childress Racing), Kurt Busch (Furniture Row Racing), Paul Menard (Richard Childress Racing) and Clint Bowyer (Michael Waltrip Racing) complete the top 5. Leader still has three laps to go, Mark Martin (Michael Waltrip Racing) ran out of fuel and had to return to his pit box, ultimately dropping him from 1st to 27th position.

Victim of a broken cylinder, the leader of the Drivers' Classification and five-time champion of the discipline, Jimmie Johnson, was forced to retire. Furthermore, Austin Dillon, who replaces Tony Stewart, convalescing after breaking his leg, finished 14th.
