Jeff Gordon reborn in Texas

Sunday, at Texas Motor Speedway, his team managed to take Gordon out in the lead during the last neutralization of the race allowing him to maintain his position without firing a shot until the end, ahead of his teammate Jimmy Johnson on the line.

At the finish, Jeff Gordon finds this victory something to smile about: “It's really ironic to finish this crossing of the desert here in Texas, a place that has smiled so little on us in the past. It’s a victory for a whole team. The year is off to a strong start and we have a fantastic car. This is the first time this has happened to me here. »

Now all that is missing for the five-time champion is a victory on the Homestead-Miami oval to count all the events on the calendar on his list of achievements!

There was total success this weekend for Hendrix Motorsport as Jimmy Johnson finished second behind his leader. The reigning champion joins Gordon in congratulating his team: “I am proud to have been able to fight with a car that was competitive again on Sunday. The team had to make several modifications during the night from Saturday to Sunday. From then on it was very comfortable and unsurprisingly to drive for the race. »

Concluding his fantastic weekend, Gordon says that “if you can win in Texas, then you can win anywhere!” » His adversaries have been warned?

In the championship, Gordon now leads Johnson by 162 points. Kurt Busch, Clint Bowyer and Tony Stewart follow. Next event on April 18 in Phoenix.
